Are you enthralled with those beautifully marbled papers you see in stores, in books or on envelope linings? Now you can spend a day with Kris Stewart learning how to make your own marbled paper designs! You'll learn in a real working artist's studio, floating paint on a water bath, swirling and combing your colors as you wish, and pulling one-of-a-kind sheets of paper with your own designs! It's a mesmerizing art form, and each pull is a surprise. While all the prep for your experience will be done by me the day before, you’ll receive instructions and supply recommendations should you want to try this on your own.
We'll take an hour lunch break when we're about halfway through our papers to allow the marbling tanks to rest. I'm happy to make nearby lunch recommendations, or you may bring your own and sit in the studio or outside, weather permitting.
*Your paper will be dry and mostly flat the morning after class. If you're local, you can arrange to pick it up at your convenience, or I'd be happy to ship it to you for $8 per address (US only.)
Workshop Info and Policies:
All workshops take place in my studio near downtown Walla Walla, WA. The address, and all other info will be sent by email within a few days.
Ages 14-16 allowed with participating adult.
The space holds up to 4 participants total. That means plenty of one-on-one time.
Restrooms, water, coffee and snacks are available.
Marbling can be messy and we use acrylic paints - dress accordingly. Standard aprons are available in the studio.
If a class is canceled for any reason on my end (illness, emergency), I will reach out to see if you'd prefer to reschedule or receive a refund.
Accessibility: the workshop is in my basement studio - there are 8 stairs total. This is a standing activity. Chairs are available to rest or get off your feet periodically. Please let me know ahead of time if I can accommodate you in any way.
Each year, I get myself a Scroll & Ink Journal for Christmas that will hold my thoughts and experiences for the year ahead. This is the first time I’ve tried a buttonhole, but I like the look of it and can’t wait to crack it open!
