FAQs

Shipping

We’re currently shipping within the United States at this time. Flat rate $5 shipping via USPS is available on every order. Upgrades to Priority Mail and UPS Ground and Air may be available at checkout. Selection varies depending on your address. Please note: shipments come from a rural area in Washington state -- please allow extra shipping time.

Processing Times

In-stock items are generally shipped within one to two business days. This includes monogrammed items. Watch for your tracking number when your package is on the way.

Made-to-order or custom work generally takes two to three weeks to complete. You will receive a tentative ship date within a couple days of placing your order. RUSH ORDERS are sometimes available. If you have a tight deadline, please ask. A 15% fee will be added to all rush orders.

Custom and personalized orders

I love making the perfect journal for you! Please browse the shop for ideas then contact me. Custom work is a higher price - note that I often spend more time designing your book than actually making it. You will receive a quote once we have a framework. If it’s acceptable, an invoice will follow. Invoices need to be paid before any supplies are ordered or any work (including proofs or samples) can begin.

No Proofs for Monogramming

No proofs are sent for monograms and names on leather items. Please verify the spelling before submitting your order as personalized items are not refundable.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Every book is wrapped in Kraft paper. Please let me know if the item is a gift being sent directly to the recipient. I’ll add a twine tie and I’m happy to include your personal message.

Care instructions

Leather Care

Handling your book often is the best care. The oils from your hands will keep it in good condition. If you don’t handle your book very often, I recommend using a good leather conditioner on your leather book every so often -- maybe once a year -- to prevent drying and cracking while still allowing the natural character to come through.

Scratches may be removed from some leathers by rubbing vigorously with your thumb or forefinger. Some scratches will remain and become part of the patina.

Albums

Your album is very sturdy, but some simple care is required to maintain it in original condition.

  • Please avoid contact with liquids, including water, and excessive sunlight.
  • You may clean or dust off book cloth by gently using blue painters' tape. Do not use tape to clean paper or leather!
  • Smudges can be removed from pages with a gummy art eraser.
Adding Photographs

There are many safe possibilities including photo tabs, photo tape and photo corners. Look for terms like "acid-free," "archival" or "photo safe."
