Sharing creativity with other creatives, one book, one class, one artwork at a time.
Kris Stewart is a bookbinder, artist and instructor based in Walla Walla, Washington. She’s been making functional blank books (think journals, sketchbooks and photo albums) for almost 30 years! In an effort to be more intentional about her work, she learned to marble her own paper along with other artistic techniques. She’s excited to only use paper she’s decorated herself in her work.
Kris has created artist’s books for many years as a way to express herself, but wall art is a newer arena for her. After learning about cyanotypes, a UV-sensitive process that started as a method to develop photographs, she took off on an experimental tangent, using additives and mixed media to create a body of work that sings and flows.
Kris sees the world around her as a composition of color and texture, pattern and balance. She surrounds herself with art and creativity daily, finding inspiration in the little things. She is a member artist in Combine Art Collective, a gallery in downtown Walla Walla.
“Kris is a master at customer service in addition to the journals—prompt responses, fast and friendly delivery. This was my first experience with the refillable journal—and I was incredibly impressed. The texture and cut of the leather, the quality of the paper, the design of the individual notebooks are the very high quality that I’ve come to respect. Highly recommend!”
“This thing is gorgeous! It looks good, feels good, smells good, it even sounds good when I set it down. Four out of five senses positive. I say that’s a win!”
